The Client

Lombard Medical Technologies (LMT) develops, manufactures and markets stent grafts for the treatment of abdominal and thoraric aortic aneurysms, endovascular stapling devices for the fixation of stent grafts and percutaneous heart valves, and develops drug delivery coatings. The Company was established in July 2000 and currently employs over 100 people at Didcot, Sheffield and Ayrshire in the UK and in the USA. The Company also has trade investments in an emerging medical device company.

Lombard Medical Technologies PLC is listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) under the symbol LMT.

The Challenge

Lombard Medical Technologies grew, and needed to move 8 people to the US market. They choose Massachusetts for its preeminent high tech and biotech position in the world, as well as for the availability of top notch talent in the area. Lombard secured the lease for its' new office space, but was lacking any network or technology infrastructure. The employees and partners of Lombard needed fluid access to files within the US and the UK organizations, as well as advanced communications and collaboration tools.

The Solution

Spirinet came in and perfomed an audit of the new office, and gathered business requirements from Lombard personnel. To meet the challenges, Spirinet recommended Microsoft Server to support core networking infrastructure and Microsoft Exchange 2007 to support the communication requirements. Spirinet also introduced in Allworx VoIP solution to help Lombard improve their communications and cut down on the many long distance calls it would be making. In order to establish fluid communication between the US and the UK offices, Spirinet introduced a Sonicwall appliance. The appliance was used to establish a site to site VPN tunnel between the 2 continents and enabled secure, real time communications between the offices. Spirinet also introduced Microsoft Sharepoint Services to allow collaboration between personnel and departments.

The Results

Spirinet was able to secure the required hardware and software, and perform the installion and configuration on time for the personnel to move in to the new office.
